Location, Location, Location

From Taiwan to the UK...

Hello to all of my friends across the globe and welcome to August. This month I thought I would share some news and updates on my location and the work that we've been getting up to over at Wind&Bones Books.

From this month I am going to be spending a bit more time based back in the UK. Initially I will be taking care of our Wind&Bones operations in the UK with Will continuing his work in Taiwan until January.

Will and I have been based mainly full time in Taiwan for the past three years and WOW, what an amazing three years it has been. We’ve lost count of the lectures we’ve delivered on writing, storytelling, social change and publishing at universities across the country. We’ve lost count of the community writing events, the community philosophy events and we’ve lost count of the inspiring and creative people we’ve met along the way.

We’ve completed not one, but TWO writing residencies and we’ve also edited and published THREE books in that time. TÂIGAEL: STORIES FROM TAIWANESE & GAELIC, Hilda Hoy’s MOTHER TONGUE and my short story collection ON THE BODIES OF STRANGERS.

We’ve also had our work featured in the national press by Taiwan Plus NewsRadio Taiwan International and Talent Taiwan’s Made It In Taiwan series.

In addition Will has been involved in various translation projects including with the Books from Taiwan initiative, from the Taiwanese Ministry of Culture.

Throughout all of this we’ve been working on both individual and joint writing projects… so it’s safe to say that it has been an extremely busy time and one that we are incredibly grateful for.

Even though we plan to be based largely back in the UK and to be working with existing and new connections across Europe, that doesn’t mean we’re leaving Taiwan behind. We’ll be continuing work on writing, book promotion, new books (more coming soon!) translation and other projects long into the future. So Taiwan friends: keep your eyes peeled for us both.

I am super-excited for this next chapter and if anyone has any ideas for collaborations across the UK, Europe, Taiwan and elsewhere please let me know! I am always open to fun projects, lectures, talks and more besides. You can get me (and Will) on contact@windandbones.com
